Secure Your Next IT Project Management Job With A Formal Qualification In 2021

Project Management

Whilst it is estimated that nearly 22 million new jobs will be created in project-oriented sectors by 2027, securing an IT project management job is highly competitive, so regardless of your experience, a professional project management qualification will help you stand out from the crowd and improve your ability to deliver IT projects efficiently and successfully.

From our team’s experience of sourcing and securing talented technical project managers, we would recommend pursuing one of the following project management qualifications:

PRINCE2

Projects in Controlled Environments (PRINCE2) is probably the most popular and well-known project management qualification in the UK. PRINCE2 certifications focus on teaching you PRINCE2 principles and terminology that will allow you to use the PRINCE2 methodology within a project environment in your next job.

There are multiple PRINCE2 certifications, however, the main ones are PRINCE2 Foundation (entry-level), PRINCE2 Practitioner (advanced) and PRINCE2 AGILE (a combination of both qualifications).

We would highly recommend any technical project management professional to qualify in the PRINCE2 methodology and supplement your knowledge with other PM certifications to secure a job in IT project management.

PMP

PMP (Project Management Professional) is a professional certification from USA based PMI (Project Management Institute). Although the PMP certification is most common in the USA, Canada and Australia, it is internationally recognised as one of the best project management qualifications available for IT / technical project managers.

CAPM

The CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) is an excellent option for professionals with basic experience from a project management job, who want to achieve the PMP certification (mentioned above) in steps rather than all in one go.

CSP-SM

The CSP-SM (Certified Scrum Professional ScrumMaster) is an advanced programme for experienced scrum professionals. Having CSP-SM certification identifies you as an individual who constantly wants to challenge yourself and your team to improve the delivery of agile scrum and project management techniques.

MSP

For any project manager who needs to manage a portfolio of projects and programmes, the MSP (Managing Successful Programmes) is an excellent option. Its best practice programme management framework has been designed to align programmes, people, activities and data in order to achieve beneficial outcomes and mitigate risk.
