3rd Line Support

About the role:

  • Based in Birmingham, close to junction 6 of the M6 motorway and 10 mins from Birmingham city centre. This role is predominantly office based, and will offer some home working
  • As a Senior Systems Administrator / 3rd Line Support you will be the sole technical authority on site, owning IT support, being hands-on and delivering change and transformation
  • You will have broad and demonstrable technical experience, predominantly in the Microsoft stake. You will have worked in both a desktop 2nd line and server/cloud 3rd line support capacity:
    • Microsoft Office 365 support
    • Training and educating end-users of O365 capabilities and tools
    • O365 technical administration (Teams, OneDrive, Sharepoint)
    • O365 design and development
    • Monitoring, Reporting and Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)
    • Patch Management and Windows Servicing
    • Ideally Microsoft Dynamics Business Central administration or awareness of similar ERPs
    • Understanding of networking protocols
    • Server support and cloud back-up
    • Some SQL coding
    • Experience with RDS environments
    • Experience with Cyber Essentials and IASME (is desirable)
  • The board has already decided on several key IT projects they wish to deliver over the next 12 months. As Senior Systems Administrator / 3rd Line Support you will own and deliver these projects, reporting to your stakeholders and the board of directors
    • Policies, Governance, procedures, and documentation – writing the rule book
    • Rolling out the required infrastructure to enable colleagues to work in a hybrid capacity, which the group is moving towards
    • Conduct a full risk management exercise
    • Developing and implementing an I.T Strategy for the Business
    • There are almost 200 users on site and in the field. Half of users are engineers, the remainder are sales, management, and back-office

Main skills and competencies as Senior System Administrator / 3rd Line Support:

  • Strong Microsoft technical skills listed above
  • A “doer” personality. Culturally top down, colleagues take ownership, accountability and someone who delivers
  • You will be working collaboratively in big teams, supporting all colleagues in delivering business needs, whilst being able to work alone at times
  • Has a proven track record of delivering successful hand-on IT change and transformation projects
