Process Improvement Specialist

Process Improvement Specialist (Lean) – 6-month contract – Manchester (Hybrid) – Outside of IR35

My Customer is seeking an experienced Process Improvement Specialist with deep expertise in Lean and Six Sigma to help them build internal capability and improve the way they work — with a lasting impact.

My Customer is in the midst of an exciting transformation and are looking for someone who can bring Lean thinking to life across the organisation. This role isn’t just about analysis — it’s about inspiring others, working side-by-side with teams, and making change feel exciting, not daunting.

As our Lean champion, you’ll map out current (“as-is”) processes, identify improvement opportunities, and help design the future (“to-be”) state — leveraging automation and digital tools where possible. You’ll work with everyone from front-line teams to senior leaders, helping them see waste, unlock value, and build new ways of working.

Key Objectives of the Process Improvement Specialist:

1. Capability Building

  • Embed Lean practices and mindset across teams through real-time coaching and co-delivery
  • Transfer practical knowledge, tools, and enthusiasm for continuous improvement
  • Support teams in adopting new roles and ways of working (e.g., “AI Boss” roles)

2. Process Improvement

  • Conduct process diagnostics using tools like Value Stream Mapping (with internal specialists)
  • Capture the Voice of the Customer (VoC) to define Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements
  • Identify bottlenecks, pain points, and automation opportunities
  • Drive re-designs to eliminate waste and improve customer outcomes
  • Build robust data books and measurement frameworks to track and sustain gains

Experience required by the Process Improvement Specialist:

  • Proven expertise in Lean and Six Sigma (certification preferred)
  • A hands-on, collaborative style – you're just as comfortable in the boardroom as on the shop floor
  • A passion for coaching and enabling others, not just doing it yourself
  • Ability to simplify the complex and bring people along the journey
  • Experience mapping, redesigning, and improving processes at pace
  • Understanding of automation, AI, and digital tooling in a business context
  • Strong stakeholder management skills – able to engage and energise at all levels

The Process Improvement Specialist is required to work in Manchester on a hybrid basis.
