IT Manager

IT Manager – 2-month contract – Glasgow (Onsite) – Outside of IR35

My customer is looking for an experienced and proactive IT Manager to lead and support their growing IT function. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of IT operations, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and a passion for delivering effective IT solutions across a dynamic business environment.

The Cloud Engineer is required onsite, 5 days a week in Glasgow.

Key Responsibilities of the IT Manager:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal uptime and performance across both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Lead a small team or coordinate external vendors to provide efficient IT support, including user support, system maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Maintain and improve systems related to networks, servers, storage, backups, and endpoint devices.
  • Administer and support cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, or AWS), including identity and access management.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies, security protocols, and compliance standards.
  • Manage IT projects, budgets, and technology upgrades aligned with business objectives.
  • Act as the point of escalation for complex IT issues and work collaboratively with other departments to resolve them.
  • Maintain asset inventories, license compliance, and documentation of IT systems.

Required Skills & Experience from the IT Manager:

  • Proven experience in IT management or senior IT support roles, covering both on-prem infrastructure (servers, networks, AD) and cloud services (e.g., Azure, Microsoft 365).
  • Strong understanding of IT operations, security best practices, and end-user support.
  • Ability to manage IT projects, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with modern cloud tools and services, including SaaS, IaaS, and hybrid models.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Outside of IR35

The IT Manager is required to work 5 days a week onsite in Glasgow.
