We recently announced that VIQU has been nominated for ‘Recruitment Company of the Year – £3 million – £10 million turnover’ in the 2018 APSCo Awards for Excellence. As we discussed in our announcement blog, three of our team decided to work together to apply for the award – our directors were not invited to contribute to it.
Lauren, Gary and Bobby focused the application on three specific areas of the business. Please read on to enjoy the first of three mini blogs we will be sharing over the next week; each give a unique insight into key areas of the business.
The first is ‘Learning & Development’. This part of the application was headed up by our learning & development specialist – Bobby Banerjee.
In 2017, VIQU consulted the whole team on a brand new learning & development strategy. This strategy included the appointment of our Future Talent Programme Manager Bobby, an L&D specialist with a broad range of experience with a specialist technical recruitment background.
Bobby began his role with the launch of our ‘Future Talent Programme’, which saw us hire five recruitment executives. The Future Talent Programme is a key part of our development strategy; our aim is to recruit, train and retain our own talent, specialist recruitment consultants that can give our clients and candidates a fantastic level of customer service due to their knowledge of the industry.
In addition to managing our Future Talent Programme, Bobby has been supporting our southern team. Since our new Southampton office opened in May of this year, they’ve been working with Bobby on the specific areas they’re looking to focus on – not many recruiters are lucky enough to work with a qualified performance coach on a daily basis!
Our learning & development strategy has not only been supporting the growth of our junior team members but our experienced colleagues too. Since the strategy was implemented, they’ve benefited from the following training:
- NLP coach Richard Elwell conducted various group and one-on-one training sessions, this included embedded commands, goal setting and personal growth.
- Two of our team recently embarked on a Team Leader/ Supervisor Diploma (Level 3 Standard). This one-year course which will support them in becoming our future managers.
- Our mid-level recruiters Lauren and Nick have benefited from signing up to a master class held by The Recruitment Network.
In addition, in June 2017, VIQU in conjunction with the Recruitment Canaries, ran a successful “Creating a High-Performance Culture” workshop, where industry guru Jamil Qureshi coached attendees for an intensive two hours. The event was attended by 75 recruiters from local agencies.
This highlights how VIQU is not only looking to benefit and develop its own team, but the industry too.
We believe that training and development helps to keep employees motivated and engaged with their work. We’re confident that this approach has contributed to our fantastic staff retention rate.
