Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Permanent / Full Time – Hybrid Working - £45,000 - £58,000

An experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer is required to join a rapidly growing team. Working for a leading e-commerce organisation, the successful Senior Infrastructure Engineer will support around 5000 end users in a large corporate estate.

With an increasing focus on Linux within the business environment, the Senior Infrastructure Engineer will have strong knowledge of Linux Systems, and experience with installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux services. The successful candidate will be involved with the project delivery of the server, infrastructure, and storage platforms, with a mix of project work and BAU.

This role is hybrid, with the expectation that you will be on site in Enderby at least one day per week.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful Senior Infrastructure Engineer will get involved in incident, change, problem and request management and resolution. (Systems applications, servers, storage, and data backups)
  • Use physical and virtualized server platforms, deploying services using scripted/automated builds and will also be involved in disaster recovery, upgrades to existing servers and systems, and maintaining environmental records of the infrastructure of the business
  • Implement new projects for the business
  • Support Microsoft OS and Linux platforms, documenting all resolutions and improvements to these systems
  • Have extensive experience supporting server operating systems in a large organisation (Microsoft Windows Server)

Essential skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience as a senior infrastructure engineer, providing well rounded support across the infrastructure estate with a focus towards Linux
  • Expert knowledge of Linux systems (systems applications, servers, storage, and data backups)
  • Expert working knowledge in Oracle Enterprise Linux, Redhat
  • Experience managing Hyper-V and VMware estate
  • Brocade Network
  • Strong scripting ability (Ansible Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, or Lua)
  • Dell EMC Isilon | Dell EMC Isilon
  • Backend Tech including Veritas and Rubrik
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux services (Postfix, Syslog, and CUPS)
  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP)
